Sat outside last evening with friends nice atmosphere very friendly and polite staff ....Just wish they would have some nice background music
It's hard to have to name your favourite pub, especially when you like so many. That said, if i was pushed to name a top three, then I'm pretty certain that the Friar Penketh would be amongst them. Certainly not everything is positive, some of the furniture looks like it's been used in a bar room brawl, and at times it can be tricky to get served. But although it is part of a generic chain of pubs, it has more of a feeling of a friendly local, with some regulars of note and a few individual quirks within the pub itself. The staff are always pleasant and friendly, the food is okay and the beer is great. There are many positives that outweigh those odd niggles. So if you get the chance, I recommend you check it out and enjoy it for yourself. You'll be glad you did.

If your just after a nice pint and a laugh. This is the place to go. The staff are brilliant the owner is amazing. Live bands most weekends. Karaoke on a Thursday night/ Sunday afternoon
Absolutely love this place. Open until late. Friendly people. Great quality drinks and crazy bar staff. Huge smoke area to the rear. Pool table. Music. Dart board when there is space to play. It's usually packed in the late evening.

Wow amazing delicious superb quality. Great value lunch menu. Seaweed, prawn crackers, s&p spare ribs and duck pancakes to start and 10/10 fantastic. Chicken curry and rice with No 39 bean sprouts were delicious. Salt & pepper chips. Great service, spotlessly clean absolutely worth a visit.
Well styled inside and the food was great. Staff were good, although I wouldn't say friendly exactly and a bit too attentive. I felt like we were being watched while eating. To be fair it wasn't very busy at the time. We had a great meal and I would (and have) recommend.

Been to this restaurant a few times now and never found even the smallest problem. First tried it about 3 years ago on the advice of a colleague who recommended it rather than the one we were thinking of. He got a big thanks when I saw him! 8 of us went the first time and everyone was raving about the food. Probably the best lamb bhuna I've had outside of curry mile! Price wise it's excellent value for money and the portions are big enough for most people (I'm a big eater and they're pleny for me) Nicely decorated, good friendly staff and air conditioning- fab in the recent heatwave! Looking forward to the next visit!
Went here saturday night..not a problem booking to get a table for 4 of us...meal fantastic didnt dissapoint ..be back very soon.🍽🥂

The most extraordinary experience on a Saturday night at any restaurant I had. 10/10 guys! Keep the good work going
The food was great. The best indian I've had in a long while. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I would highly recommend. We will be going back for sure as we had a great night!!

It's inexpensive for the spread. It's good food. Pretty much everything is deep fried.
Been quite a few times but not for a while. The food was even better than I remember. I would recommend 100%..

Quite a nice little Chinese. We are new to the area and where recommended this place as a good local takeaway. We didn't eat inside so can't comment on the "dining out" experience here. The food we received was hot and well packaged. We where impressed with the quality and taste from the food. It's not the best we've ever tried but better than all the others we have tried so far within the local area. We plan on dining here one evening and having a few drinks too.
Visiting the area. Ordered over the phone. Absolutely fabulous. Staff polite and courteous. Can thoroughly recommend the king prawn with ginger and spring onions and the beef with ginger and spring onions. Will return asap. Steve

Superb Indian dishes done with skill and the freshest of ingredients. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable when asking about the menu - lookout for special offers around holidays, I get them by email and they are very good value. Worth a visit 100%, the old building is amazing and done up to a modern standard
First class food with a good choice on the menu. Fish curries are not often offered on most restaurants . A bit expensive but worth the extra for first class food. Environment is also very plush. No flock wallpaper in here

I ordered a meal from the River Queen in Warrington tonight. Shortly after ordering I received a phone call from a lovely young lady clarifying some aspects of our order. I was confused because this girl seemed strangely infatuated with me. I thought perhaps I had met this girl on tinder but that may be unlikely. Anyhow when the order arrived I discovered a portion of chicken wings added in for free as a 'thank you'. I can conclude that this mystery female wants to have sex with me. I would like to invite her round to my garage to sit on my face xxxx
Best food in town

Really friendly & polite staff. Didn't have any issues with service or food. Nice location in the centre of town. I've been once before many years ago and I remember it was lovely. On this occasion my customer treated me to lunch as I'd saved her emails after they had been hacked.
Always a great place to eat. Staff friendly and helpful, food delicious. (Tesco Clubcard points great for reducing the cost!)

Went with a group of 12 as heard alot of good reviews. The food was amazing but had to wait a long time in between each course. Each time we asked for drinks, we also had a long time to wait and the drinks were wrong several times. It is a nice place but disappointed in the service.
The food was really hot. The seasoning was plentiful. The staff are really friendly. The pasta was delicious. They could do with slightly better organisation for large parties. Overall a pleasant experience. The steak seems a little over priced.

Always good in there. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. Pizza is Pizza, but its the family friendly atmosphere we go for.
Great selection of pizzas at the lunchtime buffet. They've now introduced an app whereby you can pay for your meal at the table. Would be good if this could be extended so you can order at your table via the app too.

First time visiting the Green Room as its now been renamed to and it was a great find. Lovely enthusiastic owner who makes home made, cruelty free, food in a kitchen that you can see in to. Its very clean and presentable which is represented by the five star hygiene food rating. I had the quinoa and mushroom burger with fries and salad, which was delicious. Reasonably priced. Would visit here again.
Went here today for the first time - only wished I could have eaten more! It was DELICIOUS! I can’t wait to go in an sample more delights. The homemade elderflower cordial was out of this world as well 🤩😍🤩

Went for the famous falafel only to find they had run out but was offered a very tasty alternative of salad, chillies and houmous in one of their freshly made bread wraps. The tastiest takeaway I have had in ages, very quick service and the staff were super friendly. Just a shame I only visit Warrington once a year or this would definitely be my regular.
Excellent food and service, even the naan bread is made fresh and cooked whilst you wait.

Great choice of foods, from carvery (which was excellent and plentiful!) through to the mainstream favourites, such as Hunters Chicken, lasagne etc, and on to their handmade (or artisan) pizzas, you can see them being freshly made and cooked in a proper pizza oven. If you like deserts then this is the place for you, they truly are amazing! Luckily they do a 'cake away' so you can take the enormous portions home for later. Only thing is there isn't much for kids to do.
The reason I gave this star rating was because the food on the carvery was very low quality. There are no vegan options here, so we decided to get the carvery as we were starving. The food (veg) was a combination of hard, chewy, dry and room temperature. We powered through to eat parts of it but we didn't enjoy it at all. The waitress was very friendly, but wasn't very knowledgeable of what food was suitable for vegans as it was a new menu. So it took a while for us to figure out that there were no options except chips or veg on the carvery. The waitress, well she was lovely and welcoming... the atmosphere was nice and the toilets were very clean. It's just a shame about the quality of the food. There's lots of parking and an area to eat outside. (This rating is on the food quality, staff and cleanliness - not because there were no vegan options.)

A nice bar. But a little pricey.
Held my daughters 21st party there. Hired the room upstairs. Its not massive but held our guests without it feeling like there were groups dotted around the place. Staff were fantastic. Really friendly and professional. Well recomended by us as a place to host small to medium parties.

THE bar to be in.. cocktails.. spot on... beer pong... even better. Simply THE place to be any night of the week 👌
Couldn't ask for more out of a bar from a Tuesday night. Beer pong, amazingly friendly staff and made our night, if someone told me a place like this existed in warrington I'd call them a liar. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Food delicious but be warned not small servings of tapas. black pudding lollipops mmm gorgeous staff lovely and very reasonably priced thanks will return
Ate off the all you can eat Sunday option, lovely food, decent wine and staff very friendly and attentive. Acoustics multiply every noise so bear in mind if sensitive. Great place for a romantic twosome or group meal. Date of visit 24th June 2018.
